How It Works — Our Tuning Process

Every EuroLab custom tune follows the same rigorous 4-step process.

🔍

1. Consultation & Health Check

We inspect your vehicle, check for fault codes, and discuss your goals. No tuning happens on a car with underlying issues.

📈

2. Baseline Dyno Run

Your car goes on our Mainline CCS3600 hub dynamometer for baseline power and torque measurements — SAE J1349-corrected for honest, repeatable numbers.

🔧

3. Custom Calibration

We develop your tune file in-house, making iterative adjustments on the dyno. Fuel maps, boost targets, ignition timing — all calibrated for your specific car, mods, and NZ 98 RON fuel.

4. Final Validation & Handover

Final power pulls to confirm gains, data review with you, and a road test. You leave with your dyno sheet and a car that performs exactly as promised.

BMW M5 F90 / M8 Tuning FAQs

How much power does a tuned M5 F90 make?

With EuroLab’s MHD custom dyno tune, the M5 F90 Competition (625hp stock) typically makes 700–720hp at Stage 1. The M5 CS (635hp) reaches similar numbers. Stage 2 pushes to 740–780hp. All figures SAE J1349-corrected on our Mainline CCS3600 hub dynamometer.

How much does it cost to tune an M5 or M8 in Auckland?

MHD OTS (self-flash) is ~$1,331 for the S63 license plus $189 for the WiFi adapter. EuroLab’s MHD custom dyno tune is $2,500 incl. GST. xHP transmission tune (OTS) from $769. FEMTO unlock ($2,800) may be required for models produced June 2020+.

Do I need a FEMTO unlock for my M5 F90?

Is a 700hp M5 reliable for daily driving?

The S63 V8 is a proven engine in BMW’s M division fleet. Stage 1 power levels (700hp) are well within the engine’s design tolerances. The AWD system handles the power effortlessly. With proper servicing and quality oil, a Stage 1 M5 is a very reliable daily driver.

What makes the M5 CS different from the Competition?

The M5 CS adds 10hp (635 vs 625hp), drops 70kg of weight (carbon fibre panels, lighter wheels), and has a more aggressive suspension setup. For tuning purposes, both reach the same Stage 1 numbers. The CS is the collector’s M5.

Can the M5 or M8 reach 1,000hp?

Yes. With upgraded turbos and supporting modifications, the S63 V8 has been proven beyond 1,000hp. Stage 3 (900+hp) involves turbo upgrades and ethanol fuel system. These are enquire-only custom builds — contact us for a consultation.
