How It Works — Our Tuning Process

Every EuroLab custom tune follows the same rigorous 4-step process.

🔍

1. Consultation & Health Check

We inspect your vehicle, check for fault codes, and discuss your goals. No tuning happens on a car with underlying issues.

📈

2. Baseline Dyno Run

Your car goes on our Mainline CCS3600 hub dynamometer for baseline power and torque measurements — SAE J1349-corrected for honest, repeatable numbers.

🔧

3. Custom Calibration

We develop your tune file in-house, making iterative adjustments on the dyno. Fuel maps, boost targets, ignition timing — all calibrated for your specific car, mods, and NZ 98 RON fuel.

4. Final Validation & Handover

Final power pulls to confirm gains, data review with you, and a road test. You leave with your dyno sheet and a car that performs exactly as promised.

BMW X5 M / X6 M Tuning FAQs

How much power does a tuned X5 M Competition make?

With EuroLab’s MHD custom dyno tune, the X5 M F95 Competition (625hp stock) typically makes 700–720hp at Stage 1. Stage 2 pushes to 740–780hp. The F85 X5 M (575hp) reaches 680hp at Stage 1. All figures SAE J1349-corrected on our Mainline hub dyno.

How much does it cost to tune an X5 M in Auckland?

MHD OTS (self-flash) is ~$1,331 for the S63 license plus $189 for the WiFi adapter. EuroLab’s MHD custom dyno tune is $2,500 incl. GST. xHP transmission tune (OTS) from $769. FEMTO unlock ($2,800) may be required for F95/F96 models produced June 2020+.

Do I need a FEMTO unlock for my X5 M?

If your X5 M F95 or X6 M F96 has a production date of June 2020 or later, a FEMTO unlock ($2,800) may be required. The older X5 M F85 and X6 M F86 are not affected.

Is a tuned X5 M practical as a daily driver?

The X5 M is one of the most practical performance vehicles you can buy. With a Stage 1 tune producing 700+hp through AWD, it’s genuinely faster than most sports cars while still seating five with a full boot. The ride quality remains comfortable for daily use.

What’s the difference between X5 M F85 and F95 for tuning?

The F85 uses the older S63 (F1x generation, 575hp) while the F95 uses the updated S63 (F9x generation, 600–625hp). The F9x gen has higher flow turbos and responds even better to tuning. Both are tuned via MHD.

Can EuroLab service my X5 M or X6 M?

Yes. We’re a full European vehicle workshop specialising in BMW performance. The S63 V8 is a complex engine and we have the diagnostics, tools, and experience to service and repair it properly. Full workshop at 27a Neilpark Drive, East Tamaki, Auckland.
