Why the M139?

  • The M139 is the most powerful series-production four-cylinder in the world at 421hp - and it still has headroom for more
  • Revised block with stronger internals compared to the M133 - designed to handle higher cylinder pressures from the factory
  • AMG Performance 4MATIC+ with drift mode allows rear-biased torque distribution - tuning amplifies this dramatically
  • The AMG Speedshift DCT 8-speed dual-clutch transmission shifts faster and handles more torque than the previous 7-speed

How It Works - Our Tuning Process

Every EuroLab custom tune follows the same rigorous 4-step process.

🔍

1. Consultation & Health Check

We inspect your vehicle, check for fault codes, and discuss your goals. No tuning happens on a car with underlying issues.

📈

2. Baseline Dyno Run

Your car goes on our Mainline CCS3600 hub dynamometer for baseline power and torque measurements - SAE J1349-corrected for honest, repeatable numbers.

🔧

3. Custom Calibration

We develop your tune file in-house, making iterative adjustments on the dyno. Fuel maps, boost targets, ignition timing - all calibrated for your specific car, mods, and NZ 98 RON fuel.

4. Final Validation & Handover

Final power pulls to confirm gains, data review with you, and a road test. You leave with your dyno sheet and a car that performs exactly as promised.

M139 Tuning FAQs

How much power can a tuned M139 make?

With a custom dyno tune, the M139 typically produces 460-500hp at Stage 1 (software only). Stage 2 with bolt-ons pushes to 520-560hp. With an upgraded turbo and supporting hardware, 600-700+hp is achievable. All figures SAE J1349-corrected on our Mainline CCS3600 hub dyno.

How much does it cost to tune an M139 in Auckland?

EuroLab's custom dyno tune is $2,500 incl. GST. This includes a baseline dyno run, custom calibration for your specific car, and final validation pulls - calibrated for NZ 98 RON fuel and local conditions.

What's the difference between M139 and M133?

The M139 is the successor to the M133. Key differences: stronger block with a closed-deck design, revised turbocharger, higher stock power (421hp vs 381hp), 8-speed DCT vs 7-speed DCT, and AMG Performance 4MATIC+ with drift mode. The M139 is a more capable tuning platform from the factory.

Is the M139 reliable after tuning?

The M139 was designed with higher cylinder pressures in mind. The closed-deck block and stronger internals handle Stage 1 comfortably. Stage 2 benefits from an upgraded intercooler and downpipe. The 8-speed DCT transmission has higher torque capacity than the previous 7-speed.

Does the M139 have drift mode after tuning?

Yes. The AMG Performance 4MATIC+ with drift mode (S models only) is retained after ECU tuning. In fact, the increased torque from tuning makes drift mode even more capable. The rear-biased torque split works with the tuned power delivery seamlessly.

Is the non-S A45 (387hp) worth tuning?

Absolutely. The non-S M139 (387hp) uses the same engine block and turbocharger - the power difference is purely software. A Stage 1 tune brings the non-S beyond S model power levels, making it one of the best value tunes in the AMG range.
