M256 Tuning FAQs

How much power can a tuned M256 make?

With a custom dyno tune, the M256 typically produces 500-530hp at Stage 1 (software only). Stage 2 with bolt-ons pushes to 550-600hp. With an upgraded turbo and supporting hardware, 650-750+hp is achievable. All figures SAE J1349-corrected on our Mainline CCS3600 hub dyno.

How much does it cost to tune an M256 in Auckland?

EuroLab's custom dyno tune is $2,500 incl. GST. This includes a baseline dyno run, custom calibration for your specific car, and final validation pulls - calibrated for NZ 98 RON fuel and local conditions.

Does tuning affect the 48V mild hybrid system?

No. The EQ Boost/ISG (Integrated Starter-Generator) system operates independently and continues to function normally after ECU tuning. The 48V system provides the same electric assistance, regenerative braking, and engine restart smoothness as stock.

What's the difference between the W206 C43 and W205 C43?

Completely different engines. The W205 C43 uses the M276 3.0L bi-turbo V6. The W206 C43 uses the M256 2.0L turbo four-cylinder with EQ Boost (some markets) or the M256 3.0L turbo I6. The M256 I6 is the superior tuning platform with more headroom and the electric compressor eliminating lag.

Is the M256 reliable after tuning?

The M256 is a modern, well-engineered engine. Stage 1 is comfortable on factory hardware. The integrated electric compressor and 48V system add complexity but are not affected by ECU calibration. The most common items to monitor are the high-pressure fuel pump and turbo wastegate actuator.

What about the e-compressor - does it still work?

Yes. The electric auxiliary compressor (e-compressor) continues to function after tuning. It spools independently of exhaust gas, so it provides instant boost response regardless of the ECU calibration. This is one of the M256's biggest advantages - zero lag even with increased boost targets.
