OM654 Tuning Power Figures

All figures are approximate, SAE J1349-corrected on our Mainline hub dynamometer. EuroLab develops custom calibrations on-car - tuned for NZ diesel fuel specifications.

Power at a Glance

Stock Power150-245 hp / 360-500 Nm
Stage 1 (Software Only)230-290 hp / 460-560 Nm

Maximum Potential350-400+ hp (upgraded turbo)

Why the OM654?

  • The OM654 is Mercedes' newest generation diesel four-cylinder - aluminium block, NANOSLIDE cylinder coating, and significantly lighter than the OM651 it replaces
  • The C300d and E300d variants (245hp stock) are already quick - a Stage 1 tune pushes them into genuine performance car territory for a diesel
  • Improved fuel efficiency over the OM651 means tuning gains come without the traditional diesel economy penalty
  • The OM654 supports higher boost pressures from the factory - giving tuners more headroom to work with safely

How It Works - Our Tuning Process

Every EuroLab custom tune follows the same rigorous 4-step process.

🔍

1. Consultation & Health Check

We inspect your vehicle, check for fault codes, and discuss your goals. No tuning happens on a car with underlying issues.

📈

2. Baseline Dyno Run

Your car goes on our Mainline CCS3600 hub dynamometer for baseline power and torque measurements - SAE J1349-corrected for honest, repeatable numbers.

🔧

3. Custom Calibration

We develop your tune file in-house, making iterative adjustments on the dyno. Fuel maps, boost targets, ignition timing - all calibrated for your specific vehicle and NZ diesel fuel.

4. Final Validation & Handover

Final power pulls to confirm gains, data review with you, and a road test. You leave with your dyno sheet and a car that performs exactly as promised.

OM654 Tuning FAQs

How much power can a tuned OM654 make?

With a custom dyno tune, the OM654 typically produces 230-290hp at Stage 1 (software only). The C300d/E300d variants reach 290hp easily. Stage 2 with bolt-ons pushes to 270-330hp. All figures SAE J1349-corrected on our Mainline CCS3600 hub dyno.

How much does it cost to tune an OM654 in Auckland?

EuroLab's custom dyno tune is $2,500 incl. GST. This includes a baseline dyno run, custom calibration for your specific car, and final validation pulls - calibrated for NZ diesel fuel specifications.

What's the difference between OM654 and OM651?

The OM654 is the newer replacement for the OM651. Key improvements: aluminium block (20kg lighter), NANOSLIDE cylinder coating (reduces friction), stepped-bowl combustion chambers, and higher boost capability. The OM654 generally responds better to tuning with more headroom in the factory hardware.

Is the OM654 reliable after tuning?

The OM654 is designed to meet stricter Euro 6d emissions standards, which means stronger internals to handle higher cylinder pressures. Stage 1 is very safe. The engine is newer so there are fewer known long-term issues compared to the OM651.

Can you tune the C300d?

Yes, and it's one of the best diesel tuning values. The C300d at 245hp stock jumps to around 290hp at Stage 1 with 560Nm of torque. That's proper performance car territory for a diesel sedan - and you still get diesel fuel economy.

Does the OM654 have the same timing chain issues as the OM651?

The OM654 uses an improved timing chain system with better tensioners. Early reports suggest significantly better reliability than the OM651's chain. However, we still inspect the timing chain as part of our pre-tuning health check on any engine.
